Art is an investment of finance, time and energy on the artist’s part, it is for many a vocation, a deepening privilege. The sheer joy of creating relies on a sustainable belief in the process and outcome. Art rests on the shoulders of titans that humble the new practitioner.
Art is not just a canvas or a beautiful glass window, it is a unifying force shared between artists. Art can reveal its ability in the expressions of a bobbing bird in a place of devastation. Every bird
has its day, to quote a wize philosopher, and in the war torn lands of a starving people. There is a musicality, born from suffering, though the end does not justify the means. The rule of thumb for me is if you can see it in your mind’s eye and describe it, even to yourself,
then you can make it happen in paint, in plaster, it makes no odds. We rely on the client to feel the intensity, mopping up the joy, soaking in the colours. When they take the work home, it is the start of a small reflective journey that connects both artist and art lover alike.
