The Girl in the foxglove Balero stands alone, bold and beautiful. She’s a tiny thing back in the eighties, her belaro jacket being the fashion statement of the day. The foxgloves on her sleeves simbolise ambivalence, insincerity and mending. These woodland xgloves are both medicinal and toxic, hey create a balance between healing and simplicity that lends protection.
The girl is watching, anticipating through a left centre window surrounded by 36 sections of joy sparking fused glass. Seventy one colours of bullseye, opaque and transparent, were used in the making of the piece. 36 is the metric of a yard of fabric that represents harmony between the physical world and spiritual inquiry. In Judaism it is believed that 36 hidden righteous people sustain the world.
In art 36 represents balance and symmetry.
